Retorner: The Sustainable Revolution That Will Transform the Future of Plastic biodegradable plastics 07/03/2025
We’d like to introduce Retorner, a project by Plastics Torner consisting of a line of innovative trays that can be reused and recycled, with the goal of reducing plastic waste and promoting a more sustainable world. With the philosophy of Rethink, Reuse, Recycle, and Reduce, and aligned with our ODS, Retorner aims to be a positive change for the environment by offering a reusable alternative to single-use packaging.
Composition
Our trays are made of different materials: an inner layer of virgin material, an outer structural layer of recovered material, and a sealing film that seals the tray.
These trays ensure maximum food protection and are suitable for both freezing and microwave use. Thanks to their design, plastic waste is reduced by up to 98% compared to a similar SUP (Single Use Product), in addition to significant cost savings.
Service Proposal
A fundamental aspect is the service we offer: collection, cleaning, inspection, and delivery of the trays. Users will actively participate in the cycle by returning the trays to the collection point, where a barcode scan will ensure that each tray continues its journey efficiently.
The trays will have a defined lifecycle; customers can access this information by scanning the barcode located underneath each tray. When the tray reaches the end of its cycle, the system alerts that it has reached the end of its useful life, and it is sent to the recycling channel to give life to a new tray.
Cleaning Process
After being used, they will go through a cleaning process to be ready for reuse, which will be carried out thanks to the collaboration of Fundació Portolà. (Fundació Portolà is a non-profit organization with a history of over 30 years supporting the social and labor integration of people with intellectual disabilities and/or mental disorders). They will be responsible for the cleaning, conditioning, and usage control of our trays.
Our careful cleaning process includes three stages: cleaning, drying, and packaging, ensuring that each tray returns to use safely and sustainably.
